Members of the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department Honor Guard held an "Intro to Honor Guard Operations" class at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA) in Deason, Tennessee last week. A total of 17 students from six different departments attended the class.

Instructors Greg Burt, Chad Davis, Jeff Irvin, and Thomas McAdoo taught the students Honor Guard operations such as drill and ceremony, marching formations, posting of colors, proper flag folds, posting guards at caskets, and other maneuvers from the "Manual of Arms."

"When the students take the skills and information they learned during the course back to their departments, they will have a solid foundation to build upon," said Instructor Chad Davis. "We received great feedback from the class and look forward to the next one."

The course was offered in conjunction with TFACA's 5th Annual "Tennessee Fallen Firefighters 'Everyone Goes Home' Training Weekend and Memorial Service", which educates firefighters and reminds them of the importance of being safe while protecting the communities they serve.
