They came, they conquered and they spent money in Rutherford County... The 2016 Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) BlueCross State Basketball Championships were held in Murfreesboro again this year this past March. The attendance numbers are now in and it looks as if the games drew a much larger crowd when compared to last year.

The Girls' Tournaments saw an attendance of 32,907 guests. That number is up by 8,518 people when compared to last year. As for the boys' tournaments, 37,895 sports fans attended the games, which is up 1,178 people from last year.

The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce says that the games bring in an estimated economic impact of $3 million for both weeks of the Girls' and Boys' tournaments.

The Girls' tournament has been played continuously in Murfreesboro since 1975. The Boys' tournament was hosted in Murfreesboro from 1975-82 and 1989 to present.
