The La Vergne Police Department will be looking for drunk drivers in the city on Saturday, November 29, 2014 through alcohol saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.

Increased police patrols will be conducted from 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. The La Vergne Police Department will monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving within city limits and along Interstate 24. These saturation points will also focus on speeding, safety belt, and other road violations.

The checkpoints are scheduled for Murfreesboro Rd. near Dick Buchanan St. at 10:00 p.m. and Waldron Rd. near International Blvd. at 12:30 a.m.

"We want everyone to have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday," said Mayor Dennis Waldron. "But we also want to keep everyone safe. Don't drink and drive in La Vergne."

The cost of the saturation patrols is covered through a Governor's Highway Office Safety grant. The grant funding pays for overtime of law enforcement officers to patrol the streets looking for drunk or impaired drivers.
