Heather Simmers is hoping by speaking out, she can help lead the change to Tennessee's AMBER Alert system.

She hasn't seen her son Devin Bond since just before she went to bed on March 30, 2017. Simmers tells NewsChannel 5 her son didn't qualify for an AMBER Alert because there was no proof of an abduction or immediate danger.

She's hoping to garner enough support for a new type of alert. One that is similar to an AMBER Alert, but on the local level. Simmers plans to push the plan before the State Legislature next session.

Devin has been missing for 14 months now and while there are tip, there have been no confirmed sightings.
