MPD Detective Shot in Leg

A Murfreesboro Police Detective was shot in the leg while working with other officers in execution of a search warrant.

Police spokeswoman Amy Norville tells NewsRadio WGNS around 2:45pm Tuesday (7-31-18), city police detectives and officers were executing a search warrant for narcotics at 1015 Grantland Avenue when a "negligent discharge of a weapon occurred."

The discharge resulted in a Detective being shot in his leg.

The Detective has been transported by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition.

No other injuries occurred.

The Detective's name is not being released at this time to allow for family to be notified.

Norville says the Murfreesboro Police Department's Office of Professional Responsibility is conducting a full investigation of this incident.
