The Murfreesboro Electric Department is mailing out information warning customers not to fall for scams that have been targeting local residents. The letter outlines some of the things that the con-artist tells local businesses and residents. Amy Byers, spokesperson for Murfreesboro Electric, told WGNS what the caller has told several local businesses.
Byers told WGNS that Murfreesboro Electric does not call customers to ask for a payment. Instead, they will send customers a notice clearly stating the past due amount. If the payment is not received, the electricity is simply cut off.
