Murfreesboro Electric Power Outages

Murfreesboro Electric Department is working hard to keep the power on to all of their customers. Spokesperson Amy Byers tells NewsRadio WGNS the scattered outages will continue until we get a thaw. Around 12pm Monday about one-thousand lost power in the Rutherford Boulevard area for about an hour. Then just before 4:30, about 15-hundred customers who get power from the Dill Lane substation lost power for about three-and-a-half hours. Byers says outside of those large outages, it's been scattered.

She reminds everyone with the bitterly cold weather expected the rest of the week, efforts to conserve energy needs to be made. The low temperatures with higher than normal load on the system could also cause problems. Byers suggests not washing clothes or cooking during peak of the cold weather to help conserve energy.
