According to City Safety Director Mary States, Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department had some outstanding safety performance numbers for 2012.

Using statistics from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, it was determined that MFRD had 6 percent less injuries than the average for Fire Protection entities in the State of Tennessee and 9.5 percent less than the average for Fire Protection entities nationwide. States said, “This demonstrates a true commitment to employee safety and health.”

Fire Chief Cumbey Gaines noted, “There has been a concerted effort to reduce the number of injuries within our department. Much of the success in 2012 can be attributed to training, work safety programs, and ultimately the men and women of this department. We are happy to see those numbers coming down.”
