A woman who is nearly 50 years of age told Police that she was raped by an acquaintance. The victim, who has developmental disabilities, told officers the rape occurred after the suspect took her to the Jackson Motel in Murfreesboro.

The challenged victim told police that she fell asleep while at the motel and when she awoke she could tell that something was not quite right. The case was turned over to detectives.

The handicap victim threatened to commit suicide about one hour within reporting the alleged crime. Sadly, numerous rape victims have suicidal thoughts, according to Suicide.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public on suicide. An article by Kevin Caruso on the site suggests that about 33% of rape victims have suicidal thoughts.

So far, no arrests have been made. However, most rape cases are investigated and then the case is presented to a Rutherford County Grand Jury where charges are often handed down.
