Leaving a car unlocked is not a smart idea, but leaving a gun in the car while it is unlocked could be considered negligent or even reckless in some cases.

In Murfreesboro, a man who parked his car at The Vie apartment complex told police that he left his car unlocked while he visited a friend at around 2:00 on Monday afternoon. When he came out of the apartment, he noticed that his Glock was missing from under the drivers seat.

The Glock 26 with a red skull on the side was entered into the National Crime and Information Center database. So, if someone tries to sell the gun to a pawn shop or gun dealer, it will come back as stolen and police will be notified.

So far, the stolen 9mm gun has not turned up.
