Murfreesboro Medical Clinic's Employee Committee declared Friday, September 4, 2015 as the official kickoff celebration for college football. Employees were encouraged to wear shirts supporting their favorite college team, all for a good cause. In order to show their support they were asked to bring in donations of shampoo, deodorant, liquid body wash and similar toiletries to benefit the Tennessee State Veterans' Home located in Murfreesboro, near the VA Hospital.

The Clinic's Employee Committee is comprised of a representative from each of the Clinic's departments and they coordinate fundraisers throughout the year to benefit local charities. This fundraiser was a unique initiative to benefit a local organization in need.

"With college football being a way of life in Tennessee and our community, our Employee Committee saw an opportunity to couple our Staff's passion for football with a community need. They never fail to seek opportunities to lend a helping hand," said Joseph Peay, MMC's Chief Executive Officer. "Our Staff consistently goes above and beyond the walls of the Clinic to serve our local community."

The Tennessee State Veterans' Home is a 140 bed, short-term and long-term care facility for veterans and spouses. "Our goal is to offer our residents the best care and to give them quality of life," said Tyler Masden, Administrator of the Tennessee State Veteran's Home. "Our mission is serving those who served and it is an honor to serve our Veterans."

The donation of toiletry items from the employees of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic will go directly to veterans and their spouses currently at the Tennessee State Veterans' Home.
