Murfreesboro Pension Plans to be EQUAL for Same Sex Couples

The U.S. Supreme Court came up in Thursday evening's City Council Meeting. That being said, the discussion revolved around same sex couples. The IRS says pension plans do not have to be amended if they are neutral. But if they're not...

According to Tennessee Law these persons are treated differently. The reason behind the amendment is to allow any persons hired under the pension plan the earnings they were promised by the City Council (un-edited complete soundbytes)

The amendment was passed by the City Council.

Some of the other items on the consent agenda were buying 96-gallon carts, discussion to make an agreement with Rutherford County for 30-yard open-top containers that will be used for scrap metal collection. All of these items were passed.
