Murfreesboro Police are busy investigating incidents where gunfire was reported at apartments on Greenland Drive and University Street. One bullet entered a room where a child was playing. The incidents occurred on two different days over the weekend and are not necessarily related.

On Friday, just before 2pm, Officer Patrick Doughtie was sent to 724 Fairview Avenue at Greenland Drive after several bullets were fired at an apartment with a child inside. At least one bullet came through the wall into the apartment where the two-year old was playing. Four additional shell casings were found. Detective Larry Maples is following up on leads as the victim's identified a person they believe to have been responsible.

On Saturday, Officer Jeremy Fox was sitting at the corner of East State Street and University Street when he heard gun fire just before 8:30. During his investigation, the officer attempted to talk to residents in the area, who all refused to say if they saw anything. Three shell casings were found in front of an apartment at 410 Greenland Drive.
