A 19-year old woman who found a car she wanted to purchase on CraigsList.org is now out $1,800 after being scammed this week in Murfreesboro. The problem will now be tracking down the person who scammed her because they are out of state.

The car she attempted to buy was in Louisiana, which is where she sent a money order after being promised by the seller that he would ship her the 2002 Toyota Camry free of charge. Perhaps the deal was too good to be true. Kelly Blue Book, a company known for placing a value on a used car, reports a 2002 Toyota Camry in fair shape with high mileage is worth at least $3,200.

After the culprit accepted the initial $1,800, he quickly demanded an additional $1,500. That was when the woman phoned the police in Murfreesboro, which is where the victim lives.  So far an arrest has not been made and Western Union has not been able to return her money.
