A well-known Murfreesboro Walking Horse trainer was killed in a crash in northern Kentucky. Fifty-one year old Jeff Givens, owner of Jeff Givens Stables here in Murfreesboro, was killed on southbound I-71 in Gallatin County, Kentucky around 8:30 Sunday morning. A passenger, 53-year old Tim Taylor of La Vergne, was hurt and taken by air ambulance to a Cincinnati hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The men were on their way back from a horse show, in Ohio, pulling a horse trailer when the crash occurred. WCOP-TV spoke with Glencoe Fire Chief Bud Webster...

Three horses had to be euthanized at the scene. Initial Kentucky State Police reports indicates the driver lost control of the truck and trailer and went down an embankment. Both men were wearing seatbelts. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
