A Murfreesboro woman who was struck by a bus in Nashville is slowly recovering.

Vicki Jean Pillow, 64, of Murfreesboro, is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being struck by an MTA bus on Friday morning (10/28/16) at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue.

The investigation shows that Pillow, who had just gotten off the bus, stepped into its path as she attempted to cross 5th Avenue from east to west. The bus was moving to cross Charlotte Avenue with a green light. Pillow began to cross the street against a "Don't Walk" signal at the intersection. Her action is the primary contributing factor to the collision, according to Metro Police.

After being hit, Pillow was pinned underneath the bus as it traveled a short distance before stopping.
