Featured Artist

Stefan Petrescu

Stefan Petrescu has won numerous prizes as a violin soloist in his native Romania and has performed in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and USA, both in recital and as an orchestra soloist. He was concert master of the Constanta Symphony Orchestra in Romania both at home and during their tours in America and Western Europe. In 1989 while touring in middle Tennessee with the Romanian Symphony Mr. Petrescu chose to risk it all, asking to defect and to make the United States his home. He could not communicate in English language, but as is commonly understood about music - it transcends many language barriers. Mr. Petrescu has worked extensively in the middle Tennessee area and with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Petrescu is currently on the string faculty of TSU and Fisk University, devoting his time to teaching, performing, chamber music, recording and composing. He is concertmaster of the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, with whom he already performed numerous solos. He has released numerous CD's with such music as Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango, Vivaldi's Concerto for two & three violins, Sinding's Suite in A for Violin and Orchestra, Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending, Bruch's Scottish Fantasy and his own Violin Concerto. Mr. Petrescu holds degrees from the G. Enescu Academy.

Melissa Hudson

Melissa Hudson is a lifelong singer, dancer, and actress. Melissa is a woman whose very existence is defined by the grace and confidence she has acquired in the performing arts. She hit the stage for the first time as a four-year-old in pink taffeta, wowing the crowd with a sassy jazz dance to Gloria Estefan's "Conga" - and never looked back. Ms. Hudson would go on to spend the next 13 years as a student of tap, hip hop, jazz, and ballet.

Melissa is a classically trained pianist and a former All-State singer and French horn player. A graduate of Indiana University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Music (Voice) and an Outside Field (Italian) from Indiana's renowned Jacobs School of Music. She spent two and a half years after college living the "train-audition-perform-repeat" actor's life in New York City. Now, back home in Tennessee, Melissa performs when she can, alongside her current hustle: account clerk/graduate business student by day, dance and yoga teacher by night. Kinda like the Clark Kent/Superman thing. She's still lookin' for a phone booth that'll magically get her dressed for the next gig. Ms. Hudson is the daughter of Murfreesboro residents Roger and Karen Hudson.

Melissa is delighted to be singing for Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra Guild, an organization that helped foster her love of music.

Remember, seating is limited. Music lovers are encouraged to secure their seats now. Reservations are $25 per person and may be made by mailing your check to MSOG, P.O. Box 332483, Murfreesboro, TN 37133.
