New checkpoints to take place on Highway 231 South at Volunteer Road

Due to the high number of fatal accidents on 231 South over the 2014 year, law enforcement departments serving Rutherford County have received additional funding from the Governor's Highway Safety Office for sobriety checkpoints.


One of the more recent accidents on 231 South occurred when a vehicle was traveling the wrong direction in the wrong lane of travel. The vehicle struck a motorcyclist head on killing the operator of the motorcycle instantly.
