Kirt Wade, elected in August to a four-year term, fills the seat vacated by Ron Washington who resigned from the City Council Aug. 25 after 18 years of service. Wade had served on the Murfreesboro Planning Commission since 2011.

In other council news, the city approved moving forward with an Employee Wellness & Reward Program recommended by the Assistant Human Resources Director. Vice Mayor Doug Young said, "It will pump life into our wellness program."

They also approved moving forward with Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue purchasing the Franklin Heights Public Housing Property and turning it into a training facility. It's recently been used as a SWAT team training facility.
