(MURFREESBORO) Steve Sandlin is not new to Rutherford County government. He served for 24-years on the county commission. But it is a different job, and after 6-days on-the-job, WGNS asked if the newly appointed deputy to the county mayor was surprised?

When asked what is Rutherford County's biggest challenge, he did not hesitate . . .

After two-weeks on the job, County Mayor Bill Ketron hired a charter bus to take county commissioners and other community leaders to Sevierville for a tour of the composting plant that has been keeping garbage out of that county's landfill for 2-decades. It was Sandlin's second day in this new position. NewsRadio WGNS asked his opinion about a composting plant here . . .

He noted that a complete study of the composting plant and running the numbers using Rutherford County's waste, must be done before we have a clear answer.

NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
