New federal bill could help Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools add more counselors

Three weeks after a school shooting took place in Parkland, Florida where 14 high school students, a teacher and a coach were killed, Senate education Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) spoke on the Senate floor about the School Safety and Mental Health Services Improvements Act. The new legislation was introduced on Wednesday and could help Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools add more school counselors...

The bill would also help to pay for security cameras, safety infrastructure, better entrances and exits and more.
