NOT GOOD: Michigan Sex Offender Found Living in Home Across the Street from Central Magnet School

A sex offender who allegedly absconded from his status verification in Michigan and came to Murfreesboro has been arrested. Christopher Fitrakis was wanted in Kalamazoo County, Michigan for failing to comply with a court order that required him to register his status as a sex offender. Fitrakis was on the registry for his alleged sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 13.

When police in the ‘Boro caught up with Fitrakis they found him living in a home that was divided into apartments at 618 East Main Street acorss from Central Magnet School. The 37-year old’s roommate told police he met the man at a carnival just outside of Murfreesboro in July. Fitrakis was traveling with the carnival when he decided to make Murfreesboro his home. The man was said to be a “ride attendant” with the traveling carnival.

In addition to Fitrakis being charged with fugitive from justice, he will also face a charge for living within 1,000 feet of a school. A warrant has been obtained for that charge.

Fitrakis will remain behind bars until his local court date and then he will likely be picked up by Michigan to face charges there.
