#1 Oakland, trailing 21-14 at the half, scored 28 unanswered in the second half to defeat #2 Blackman 42-21 Friday night.
The Blaze got on the scoreboard first, an 80-yard run followed by a 5 yard plunge into the end zone by running back Master Teague to take the early lead. Oakland answered four minutes later and took their first lead just over 40-seconds later...
Blackman would answer back with a defensive touchdown of their own on Oakland's only turnover of the night with 10:03 in the 2nd quarter...
Teague would add his second touchdown of the night just before the half to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room.
Oakland running back Jeron Rooks rattled off a big run to start the second half and scored on a 13-yard run just 23-second into it to tie up the game. They'd take the lead for good on this pass from junior quarterback Brevin Linnell to Rooks with 2:04 to go in the third quarter...
Rooks would finish the game with three touchdowns to go with his 14 carries for 132 yards. Justin Jefferson would carry seven times for 82-yards.
Two second half interceptions for Blackman, both picked off by Oakland's Woodi Washington, ended drives as they were trying to mount a comeback. The Patriot defense held the Blaze to just under 80-yards in the second half.
Teague rushed for 166-yards on 20 carries. Blackman quarterback Conner Mitchell was 5-of-13 passing for 70-yards.
Blackman, which falls to 5-1 (3-1 Region 3-6A) hosts Warren County next Friday night. Oakland, now 5-0 (2-0 Region 3-6A) will host Coffee County.
