In LaVergne, police were involved in a shooting on Wednesday night. Police evidently fired several shots at a suspect who was driving his vehicle directly towards officers.

The shots occurred shortly after LaVergne Police were called to investigate a domestic situation at about 5 P.M. on Wednesday night at Cedar Glen Mobile Home Park. A suspect in a trailer was threatening suicide and allegedly had a female in the mobile home with him, possibly as a hostage.

Police say the man was able to jump into his car and leave the area right before they got there, but officers were close by and gave chase. The shooting incident occurred after the man left the area and then returned shortly after, heading his car towards officers who were standing outside their cars. Police fired on the suspect as he ran his vehicle towards them.

No one was injured in the incident, but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is investigating the matter, as they do with any officer involved shooting.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
