One man was killed in a Tuesday accident on Highway 96 in the Almaville area. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that 52-year old George Thompson from Murfreesboro was struck head on by another motorist.
According to the accident report, 64-year old Judson McGuire was driving his Dodge Dakota on Highway 96 when the car in front of him slowed to make a turn. McGuire attempted to stop, but instead swerved into the East Bound lane and hit Thompson's truck head on.
The report showed that Thompson was not wearing a seat-belt and Trooper Bryan White noted in his report that the seat-belt would have made a difference in the outcome of the crash.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the accident on Tuesday. No citations were issued and no charges were filed.
