The senate version increases property tax relief for disabled veterans. The increase to 175-thousand is up from 100-thousand dollars, which is the current level of property tax relief.

The amended version of the gas tax proposal is expected to pass the lower chamber, which would send the bill to the governor for his signature, making it law.

You'll recall members of both the House and Senate passed bills last week. The variations in the bills have been compromised, one which includes the property tax break.

Rutherford County's House delegation all voted against the gas tax while our local senators voted in favor of the legislation.

While the proposal increases the gas tax by six-cents and diesel by 10-cents, it does cut the tax on groceries by a penny.
