ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Ceremony planned honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in La Vergne

A remembrance ceremony will be held in the city of La Vergne to honor Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Multipurpose Building behind City Hall.

Guest speakers for the ceremony include Alderman Calvin Jones, Civic Leader Kathy Hines, and Administrator of Human Resources Fred Gaston who is with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.


"The annual ceremony has grown so that a bigger facility is needed," said Mayor Dennis Waldron. "I am proud to honor Dr. King because he is an important part of American history. My hope is that we have a big attendance to remember the life of an American hero."
