It was a great day for the 39th Annual Pioneer Days at Cannonsburgh Village on Front Street. This free-to-the-public event is sponsored by the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department.

Spectators enjoyed Appalachian style clogging, old-time music and demonstrators, over 40 crafters, hayrides, Harriet Tubman re-enactment by June LaGreen, blacksmith demonstration, Murfreesboro Art League show, Stones River Antique Auto Club show and more.

In addition to the folk activities, the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club held its third annual barbecue.

This was all held at Cannonsburgh Pioneer Village at 312 S. Front Street. In 1976, during Tennessee's bi-centennial celebration, Murfreesboro built the village that was pretty much where the first settlers built. This too was called Cannonsburgh, a name that lasted only about a month before changing it to honor Colonel Hardy Murfree, a Revolutionary War hero.

The general store, church, log cabins, and other structures in the village actually can be traced back to early Rutherford County.
