Police Release Name Of Woman Killed Wednesday

(MURFREESBORO) Here's an update on last Wednesday's fatal shooting on Forrest Street. Murfreesboro Police released the name of the 18-year old victim. She is Carmen E. Simmons of Christiana.

As you recall, officers responded to the 400 block of Forrest Street at approximately 9:44 last Wednesday night (3/6/2019) to a report of a female possibly not breathing. Upon arrival, officers found Simmons suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

Carmen Simmons was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Murfreesboro Police Detective Sgt. Tommy Massey said, "The victim died from a gunshot wound. However, the manner of death is still unknown."

Detectives have interviewed possible witnesses and are trying to figure out how she sustained the gunshot wound. The investigation is still on-going.

Again, 18-year old Carmen E. Simmons of Christiana has been identified as the person who died from a gunshot wound to her face on Forrest Street last Wednesday evening. NewsRadio WGNS will keep you up to date when more information is released.
