Possible Sunday Morning Murder in Murfreesboro under Investigation

An alleged murder investigation continues in Murfreesboro.

Early Sunday morning (9/18/16 at 1:07a.m.), Murfreesboro Police responded to Waterford Place Apartments on South Church Street (2840 S. Church St.) to assist Rutherford County EMS with a medical situation. When officers arrived, they discovered 40 year old Kaithong Keomek unconscious and bleeding. Keomek was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital and then to Vanderbilt Hospital.

Detectives were notified and responded to the scene to begin an investigation. Through the investigation, detectives believe that Keomek and 39 year old Anousack Imanivong became engaged in an argument and Keomek was beaten severely. Imanivong was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and booked on a $250,000 bond at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

Keomek later died on Monday and is scheduled for organ donation. Charges will likely be increased pending a post mortem examination.

The case remains active.
