Prayers Needed: Manchester Teen Dies in Wreck on Saturday

A 1998 Ford pickup driven by Jacob A. Franklin age 18 of Manchester, TN was traveling southbound on Hwy 53 at the intersection of Houston Bell Rd. in Coffee County near Alfords Trucking on Sunday morning at 8:30AM. According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrolman Donnie Clark, the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed. The truck left the roadway on the left side hitting a culvert, causing a rollover.

The passenger in the truck, Cole M. Sons also age 18 of Manchester was ejected from the vehicle. Sons was pronounced dead on arrival. Trooper Clark’s report indicated Sons was not wearing a seatbelt when he was ejected. The driver, Jacob Franklin, was airlifted to a Nashville Hospital with various injuries.
