On April 8th, the Town of Smyrna will participate in its second PrepareAthon Event! PrepareAthon 2016 will help citizens' families, work places, schools, houses of worship and community organizations take the steps needed to be prepared in the event of a tornado and/or flood disaster.

The Town will be joined by other disaster planning and preparedness partners, including Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross in this event.

America's PrepareAthon! is a national, grassroots campaign for action to increase individual and community preparedness and resilience through hazard-specific drills, group discussions, and exercises. The goals of the campaign are to increase the number of people who understand which disasters could happen in their community, know what to do to be safe and mitigate damage, take action to increase their preparedness, and participate in community resilience planning.
