There's going to be one less bill to consider in the Tennessee General Assembly. The proposed legislation seeking to encourage this state's 1-million food stamp users to make healthier food choices is going to be dropped from the agenda.
Representative Sheila Butt, a Maury County Republican, indicated it was unlikely that the feds would allow a state to make changes in a federal program.
She was attempting to ban high calorie food such as sugar, ice cream, candy, cakes, cookies and more from being purchased by food stamps.
Representative Butt notes that she hopes the new Trump administration will follow her lead.
