There were 30 local quilt-makers in MTSU's McWherter Learning Resources Center on Saturday (2/6/2016). They were making quilts that will be given to veterans.

The National Quilts of Valor Sew Day at MTSU kept the area buzzing from 8:00 o'clock Saturday morning until 4:00 that afternoon. And the end-results were pieces of art.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts for their valor and sacrifice. Quilters and volunteers completed nearly 20 quilt tops in the eight hour period of time.

Keith M. Huber, senior adviser for Veterans and Leadership Initiatives at MTSU and a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, gave encouragement to the group, while he also praised them for their dedication. Saturday morning.
