Murfreesboro Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns that spring temps and gentle breezes will create enthusiastic construction crews who will create traffic challenges. Here are areas to avoid between today and May 12th.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project (Est Substantial Completion March 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, Incidental construction work continues. There will be minor lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd and Old Fort Pkwy the on-off ramps. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd is reduced to two-lanes two-way between Bell St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Median construction and traffic signal work continues between Bell St and Greenland Dr. Appropriate traffic control will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St) (Est Substantial Completion June, 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - June 30, 2018: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St is closed to traffic for roadway improvements. The intersection of Church St & Burton St and Church St and Lytle St are closed for roadway improvement and traffic signal work. Traffic signal installation work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle St will be closed between the roundabout and Barker St. Traffic will be detoured onto W College St. Access driveways to local businesses will be kept open. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water Resources Sewer Rehabilitation Work (Haley Rd just north of Middle Tennessee Blvd

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday through Friday, Weather Permitting, Contractor for Murfreesboro Water Resources Department will be performing sewer rehabilitation work. There will be road closures and traffic detours. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM: City contractors will be milling, paving, striping and concrete work on the following streets:

  1. Highland Ave at between E Clark Blvd and E Northfield Blvd
  2. Blaze Dr between Fortress Blvd and Brinkley Rd
  3. Thompson Lane at Trailhead north of NW Broad St

Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
