City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns that as the temps get hot, hot, hot--traffic challenges become more worrisome. Here are potential trouble areas in the 'Boro through June 25th.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for utility crossing and general construction work. W Lytle Street and a short segment of College St and Burton St are also closed to traffic for construction work. Retaining wall work continues as part of the southwest and southeast ramps for the new overpass. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Sewer Pump Station Project (NW Broad St at Battlefield Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing sewer lines within TDOT right-of-way/Battlefield Pkwy. A small section of Battlefield Pkwy is closed. Underground bore work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Relocation Project (NW Broad St to Barker St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Underground utility work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: The contractor has implemented the next phase of the traffic control plan on Middle Tennessee Blvd. Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two lanes between E Main St and Greenland Dr (near the tennis courts). E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd are only open to local traffic. Middle Tennessee Blvd between Bell St and E Main St will be closed. Northbound traffic is detoured onto E Main St/Rutherford Blvd and southbound traffic will be detoured onto Greenland Dr/Highland Ave. Appropriate traffic controls, message boards and detour signs will be in place.

TDOT Roadway Improvement Project (Singer Road between NW Broad St and CSX Railroad)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday, March 14 - Wednesday, August 31: The contractor for TDOT will be closing Singer Rd between NW Broad St and CSX Tracks to make roadway improvements. Access to and from businesses and residents will be from Florence Road. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Roadway Improvement Work (Veterans Pkwy just north of Old Fort Pkwy)

Expected Minor Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing traffic signal loops and poles on Veterans Pkwy just north of Old Fort Pkwy. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Turn Lane Improvements (N Thompson Ln just east of Leanna Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be construction a left turn lane into a private development on N Thompson Ln. A short section of the bike lane on N Thompson just east of Leanna Rd will be closed. There will be minor traffic interruptions with no lane closures. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Rehabilitation Work (Toddington Dr between Todd Ct and Overlook Pl)

Expected Road Closures: Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm: The contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be relaying existing sewer services on Toddington Dr between Todd Ct and Overlook Pl. This section of Toddington Dr will be closed to through traffic. Local residents on Toddington Dr will access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Urban Environmental Department Mulching Work (E Northfield Blvd between Memorial Blvd and Village Ct)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday, Weather Permitting, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm: Contractor for Urban Environmental will be mulching the median along E Northfield Blvd between Memorial Blvd and Village Ct. There will be a moving lane closure on the eastbound direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Utility Work (Crestland Ave just south of Greenland Dr)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing water lines and taps on Crestland Ave just south of Greenland Dr. Traffic on Crestland Ave will eb reduced to one lane flagging operation. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Milling and Paving Work (S Church St between Rutherford Blvd and I-24)

Expected Lane Closures: Friday, June 17, 7:00 pm to 5:00 am: City Paving Contractor will be milling and paving S Church St between Rutherford Blvd and I-24. The two southbound through lanes would be affected. Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane flagging operation during the milling and paving process. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
