Ram's Traffic Challenges Through June 16th

Warm weather and outdoor work season. Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran says construction projects are at a peak and warns of places to avoid while driving now through June 16th.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd is reduced to two-lanes two-way between Bell St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Median construction and traffic signal work continues between Bell St and Greenland Dr. Faulkinberry Dr will be closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd(right turns only). Appropriate traffic control will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St) (Est Substantial Completion June, 2018)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - June 30, 2018: Incidental traffic signal, landscaping and construction work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle St will be closed between the roundabout and Barker St. Traffic will be detoured onto W College St. Access driveways to local businesses will be kept open. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Urban Environmental Department Tree Removal Work (Medical Center Pkwy just west of Thompson Ln)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday, 8:30 am to 11:30 am, Weather Permitting, City Urban Environmental crews will be removing trees along Medical Center Pkwy just west of Thompson Ln. The left turn lane for the median opening west of Thompson Ln will be closed. The two through lanes in both direction will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Crown Castle Fiber Project (Mall Circle Dr just north of Old Fort Pkwy/N Frontage Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: There will be lane closures on Mall Circle Dr between N Frontage Rd and Stones River Mall Dr for fiber installation work. Southbound traffic on Mall Circle Dr will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Northbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic control will be in place.

City Urban Environmental Department Mulching and Landscaping Work

  1. Medical Center Pkwy between Warren St and I-24

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Wednesday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for City Urban Environmental will be mulching along Medical Center Pkwy between Warren St and I-24. Traffic will be reduced to a moving one lane operation westbound on Medical Center Pkwy between Warren St and Thompson Ln. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

  1. Middle Tennessee Blvd between Main St and Mercury Blvd

Expected Lane Closures: Thursday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for City Urban Environmental will be mulching along Middle Tennessee Blvd between Main St and Mercury Blvd. Traffic will be reduced to a moving one lane operation southbound on Middle Tennessee Blvd between Main St and Mercury Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM: City contractors will be milling, paving and striping on the following streets:

  1. Old Fort Pkwy at New Salem Hwy (nighttime work 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM)
  2. Old Fort Pkwy at Thompson Ln (nighttime work 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM)
  3. SE Broad St at Mercury Blvd (nighttime work 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM)

Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
