Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) awarded $73,500 in federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) monies to Doors of Hope to provide rapid rehousing to homeless individuals and families in Rutherford County.

Cities, counties and non-profit organizations in Tennessee are eligible to apply for funds through a competitive grant process THDA administers. Doors of Hope was one of 11 recipients of ESG funding in the fall 2014 competitive grant process. THDA dispersed a total of $958,591 among the successful applicants.

ESG funds provide facilities capital as well as essential social services, street outreach, rapid rehousing assistance and Homeless Management Information Systems in non-metro areas. Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville-Davidson County are not eligible to compete for ESG funds because they already receive their own Community Development Block Grant funds directly from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
