RCSO Stops Man Driving 104 MPH In Smyrna

(MURFREESBORO) A Georgia man was stopped on I-24 in Smyrna on Wednesday (4/15/2020) for driving 104 miles per hour. The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office made the stop at the Sam Ridley exit (mile marker 65).

Deputy William Travis made the stop, and he was joined moments later by Corporal James Bailey and K-9 Argo, who alerted them that drugs were in the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was then conducted and a pound of marijuana was found, along with $20,000 in cash, an AR-15 pistol with the serial number filed off.

22-year old Devonta Eli Noel of Marietta, Georgia was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a weapon while commiting a dangerous felony. Noel was also charged with felony altering a license tag.
Noel is being held on $13,500 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set Friday (4/17/2020) in General Sessions Court.
