Read To Succeed and One Book Want Teens to Answer 1 Question about the book "Fault in Our Stars," WHY READ THIS BOOK?

Readers all over Rutherford County have read The Fault in Our Stars as part of the 2013 Read To Succeed/One Book community read. The book is funny, serious, and deep. It’s about cancer, and it’s about being a teenager. It’s about relationships, and self-discovery, and destiny.

Teens all over the country have fallen in love with the book which has remained on The New York Times Bestseller List for nearly two years.

Now, Read To Succeed and One Book are looking for teens in Rutherford County to answer the question, “Why read this book?”The inaugural Read To Succeed  YRead Essay Contest is accepting essay submissions through April 28. The essay contest is open to 9th-12th grade students in all public, private, and home schools in Rutherford County. 

Whether it’s the book’s characters, themes, or language, Read To Succeed is looking for the best reason to read The Fault in Our Stars.

The top two winners will receive gift cards to Barnes and Noble and both the winner and runner-up will have their essays featured in The Daily News Journal.

Essays must be between 600 and 800 words, double-spaced, size 12, Times New Roman font. Include your name, grade, school, teacher, e-mail and/or phone number on your entry. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, April 28, at midnight. Essays should be submitted to Laura. Jackson@mtsu.edu. Winners will be announced in May and recognized at the One Book year-end event on Friday, May 10th
