Make story-time even more dynamic with Read To Succeed’s Reader Training on September 5. Teachers, volunteers, parents, childcare providers, and community members who just want to make their time reading to a child more engaging are invited to attend this training at the Myrtle Glanton Lord Library at Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro.

Dr. Suze Gilbert, professor of elementary and special education at MTSU, will provide tips and guidelines on how to make reading aloud to children as effective as possible. There will also be several demonstrations of active, engaging reading, including local author Kory Wells.  People interested in volunteering on September 20 for Read To Succeed’s annual “Reading in the Schools Day” are also encouraged to attend.

“Reading aloud to a group can be a little intimidating,” says Lisa Mitchell, Read To Succeed Executive Director. “We want everyone to leave this training more comfortable with reading to children and invigorated with new ideas on how to make story-time fun and educational.”

How to Attend:

The training will take place Thursday, September 5 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the library. If you’d like to attend, please R.S.V.P. to kristinabrown@readtosucceed.org or call 615-738-READ.
