Registered Sex Offender Convicted on More Charges in Murfreesboro

42-Year-old Christopher A. Barnes was accused of utilizing social media apps like Instagram to meet underage girls in Murfreesboro and faced the courts earlier this month (Feb. 7, 2020). The already convicted sex offender plead guilty to a number of charges.

An investigation by Murfreesboro SVU Detective Tommy Roberts in 2018 shows that Barnes reached out to multiple teens between the ages of 10 and 14. Detective Roberts wrote in a report, "There was also evidence that he asked them for sex." The suspect was also accused of sending teenage girls explicit photos of himself.

Barnes, who lived on Wellington Place in Murfreesboro, plead guilty to four counts solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor.

In 2016, Barnes was convicted on charges for "Criminal Attempt to Commit Exploitation of a Minor by Electronic Means."

His most recent conviction will land him in prison for minimum of 4 years.
