It wasn't a holiday from work, but the sales tax holiday weekend in Tennessee has many retailers smiling today. That's because shoppers went shopping over the weekend in droves.
The sales tax holiday was created as a way to ease the financial burden of some large yearly purchases, such as back-to-school supplies and clothes.
The sales tax was waived on purchases of clothing and school supplies of less than one-hundred dollars and on computers less than 15-hundred dollars.
The sales tax weekend ended at 11:59pm Sunday.
