Rick LaLance formally announces his bid for re-election to the Murfreesboro City Council. LaLance is honored to have served the last four years on the City Council and looks forward to serving another four years. He is a Murfreesboro native and has served local families and individuals as a highly respected and successful financial manager for over two decades. LaLance's financial expertise helps him make sound financial decisions for the city of Murfreesboro.
"The next Council will truly help shape the future of Murfreesboro. Voters want someone who is going to listen to all sides and make smart, reasonable decisions. I would like the opportunity to serve my fellow citizens again and influence those decisions that will impact our community for many years to come," stated LaLance.
LaLance also stated, "We can continue the City's history of low taxes by being fiscally conservative. That means improved planning, prioritization, and execution of capital projects, smart growth preparation, and dealing with financial issues head-on. We need to do more to attract higher paying jobs and use technology to increase efficiency to offset some of the increased cost of providing services."
Rick actively supports firefighters and police, improving education and recreational park usage --all issues he will continue to champion in the next four years. LaLance recently said, "Police and firefighters are sometimes taken for granted. I appreciate what they do," he said. "A safe city like ours is a city that can focus on a strong economy and improving our quality of life."
LaLance is on the Advisory Board of the JPJ Foundation of Murfreesboro, founded by Joe Peebles, Jr. The Foundation provides scholarships to local minorities. He is a member of the Blue Raider Athletic Association. LaLance previously served as the Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Council for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the 2007 Leadership Rutherford class. His family has attended World Outreach Church for the past 16 years, where LaLance worked with the children's ministry for four years. He is an avid hunter and angler and enjoys spending time with his family and watching his kids play soccer.
