Riverdale Girls D7AAA Champions; Oakland Takes Third

The Riverdale girls claimed a hard-fought 57-55 win over Stewarts Creek in the District 7-AAA Girls Championship game. Down 39-34 in the third, Riverdale used a 10-to-2 run to take a 44-41 lead to the fourth quarter and held on for the win. Tournament and regular season MVP Anastasia Hayes had 24 points in the Lady Warrior's win, which improves them to 27-0 on the season. The Lady Red Hawks were led by Brandi Ferby and Lauren Flowers, who each has 12 points.

In the consolation game, Oakland saw a 19-point lead before having to hold off Smyrna 64-58. The Lady Patriots' Maggie Knowles led the team in scoring with 14. Kesha Brady had 23 for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Region 4-AAA Tournament begins for girls on Friday. The games are:

Smyrna at Shelbyville
Coffee Co. at Stewarts Creek
