Riverdale senior guard Anastasia Hayes was selected the Class Triple-A Miss Basketball this season. A finalist last year, she led her Lady Warriors to a state tournament championship.

This year, the University of Tennessee signee, has led her Lady Warriors to an undefeated record, state tournament appearance, first place state and national rankings.

Hayes is a McDonald's All American and one of five finalists for the national High School Naismith Award.

She becomes the fourth Riverdale player to win the award. In fact, the Class Triple-A Miss Basketball has been from Murfreesboro six of the past seven years.

Rutherford County's first Miss Basketball winner was Riverdale's Anne Marie Lanning back in 2007.

A statewide committee of sportswriters selected winners based on performance during the 2016-2017 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration. High school head basketball coaches and members of the media nominated the finalists.

The TSSAA presented the awards to the top girls and boys in five classifications on the floor of Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU.

Hayes was joined by Houston's Jayla Hemingway and Bradley Central's Rhyne Howard as Class Triple A finalists.

This was the 33rd year that the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards have been presented to Tennessee's best high school basketball players.
