Rutherford County Clerk Re-Opens Doors and Auto Emission Testing to Re-Start

The Rutherford County Clerk's Office reopened on Friday (May 22, 2020, at 8 AM). Officials told WGNS that regular office hours will apply (8-4 M-Th / 8-5 F) as of Friday.

Reports also indicate that Murfreesboro Auto Emission testing will resume on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 and Smyrna Auto Emission testing is set to resume Tuesday, June 1, 2020.

As a reminder, March, April, and May auto renewals are currently exempt from emission testing through June 15. After this date, emission test will be required for the March, April, and May auto renewals. All June auto renewals are required to have the emission test.

The county reports, "As for safety protocol observed while visiting the Clerk's office, social distancing will be in place. Floors and walkways will be marked with the common distance 'X.' The number of citizens allowed in the Motor Vehicle operation will be limited to sixteen (16) at any one time. As a citizen departs, a waiting citizen will enter."
