County unemployment rates for June have been released and reports indicate the rates have slightly increased in every Tennessee County. However, Rutherford County had one of the lowest rates in the state, placing our community at number six on the list out of all 95 counties.
Rutherford County had an unemployment rate of exactly 6 percent nearly tying with Davidson County. Looking back to May (2014), Rutherford County saw a 5% unemployment rate, which means the rate increased by 1 percent. When you compare this past June to the June of 2013, Rutherford County is doing far better. In June of 2013, the unemployment rate for Rutherford came in at 7.2%.
The county with the absolute lowest unemployment rate was Lincoln County with a 5.2 percent unemployment rate. Williamson County was ranked at number two with a 5.4 percent rate followed by Wilson County at 5.8 percent.
The county with the highest unemployment rate was Scott County. The unemployment rate came in at 14.2 percent. Scott County has a little over 22,000 residents and is located in East Tennessee on the Tennessee / Kentucky line.
