Members of the Rutherford County SORT or special operations response team were in Nashville to learn about a new tool for disaster management.

SORT members Cody Smith, Adam Rose, Mike Johnson and Dallas McLemore were at the headquarters of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Thursday to learn about using an unmanned aircraft, or drones, for disaster management.

Officials say this information will be crucial to the advancement of the SORT UAS program which is already being used for various operations in Rutherford County.
