State Department of Health officials are investigating several reports of people who attended the September 10th Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department fish fry getting sick. Salmonella is reported to have sickened at least 18 people who attended the fundraiser, even hospitalizing some. Several people have gone to the "Famous Lascassas" Facebook page to report their illness.

Salmonella is an infection with the bacteria, commonly caused by contaminated food or water. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. Anyone who went to the fish fry on September 10th with any of those symptoms are encouraged to see their doctor. They may also hear from the state to ask what they ate since they're still unsure the cause of the salmonella. They're working with the fire department as well to find the source.
